Susan Root is the mother of 13 1/2 year-old Alexandra who has had diabetes for seven years. Susan volunteered as Adult Program Coordinator at The Rainbow Club, a summer camp for children with diabetes. She first contacted Dr. Faustman after reading about her breakthrough research of permanently reversing end-stage diabetes in mice. Jacqueline Fusco is the mother of 12 1/2 year-old Alfred who has had diabetes since he was 18 months old. Over the past three and one half years, Susan and Jacqueline have been working together as volunteers with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) on the "Cure Diabetes Now Fund", established to promote awareness and fund the research of Dr. Faustman and Dr. Nathan through human clinical trials. |
